Technology past and present

It is clear that technology has changed dramatically over the years. I have
slight recollections however they are not as vivid as I was just a young child.
Technology has evolved in ways no one could have imagined and is now wildly
accessible rather than fifteen years ago. To name the least, mobile phones were
available but generally used for phone and text as oppose to today where they
are made for many uses and there was no wireless internet but dial-ups. Has it changed
for the better? This is an argument within itself. Yes, it has made life easier
but some would say it has made us lazier. Being a fellow digital native, I am
torn between the two contradictions. I was born in the midst of technology and
although it was no where as developed as it is today it is basically all I
know. On the other hand, being able to read books digitally for instance on ‘eBook’
rather than going to the library or local book store as I would have done in my
early years could suggest laziness.

Smartphones, laptops, notepads, iPods etc rake in so much revenue which is the
possible main reason as to why it has advanced so quickly. It is also less time
consuming as there is know longer any need to go out and buy a CD when you can
just download it. It is also an example of Popular Culture. Music and TV are
extremely popular in today’s society therefore it is made accessible in just
about every possible way. 15 years ago, technology was not an important factor
in my life but today it seems as though I cannot avoid it.
