Most concepts of new media are much advanced versions of old
media. It is undoubtedly developed to a much ‘better’ standard making things
easier for us. Being ‘old’ doesn’t have to be a bad thing but something
historical. It can be seen as competition as companies are forever trying to
develop or invent technology that is better than the last however it can also
be seen as a foundation as to where it all started. Print media such as newspapers
and magazines can be seen as either old or new. Print media has been used to
spread information for centuries however now there is online media where newspapers
and magazines can be accessed online, such as www.thetimes.co.uk. Books are also being
accessed digitally through software’s such as eBooks which can easily be
downloaded. Radio has developed tremendously and can also be heard through the
internet. Radio was initially one of the first sources of
broadcast media and similar to most examples of old media has also changed in
appearance. Old media should not be discarded completely because not all people
are into new media. Different generations play a key.
